We took "Grab" which in their local context is DiDi from airport to the hotel. We waited for very long as a lot are waiting for their DiDi and is very confusing on the waiting point.
We check into the hotel, first time staying in apartment with kitchen facilities and washer too. The room was spacious and the hotel is directly link to One Link Mall. We are staying in their Tian He which is like our Bugis area. Grandview Mall (正佳广场) and Tee Mall is within walking distance.
Facilities at the Hotel:
Reading Corner
Swimming Pool
Common Massage Room
One Link Mall
Is directly link to the hotel and the train station is just below very convenient.
There are some F&B at the mall which you can explore. Oh Zara Home is also in the mall =)
You can also walk via the back of the hotel straight down to Tian He Shopping area.
We wanted to go Dian Du De but couldn't locate it but Guess what we found Tai Hing instead! Too hungry and lazy to find so we went in.
Food is good, never disappoint us. In Guangzhou there are a lot of food from HK, probably due to their origins and mostly speak Cantonese. They also fancy MaLa.
Tian He Festival Walk / Fashion Mall
We took train to the mall. It was quite user friendly, basically touch screen, select the station you want to go and it will prompt the fare. It comes out in a token, tap n go.
The mall is an underground mall so very easy accessible. I would highly recommend this mall as it is very unique and very instagramable. The clothing are also slightly cheaper, there are many shops inside and there is even a train running in between the shops!
Beijing Lu Pedestrian Street (北京路步行街)
We reach there quite late and had a hard time finding as we exit from wrong train exit. It was raining the whole day so not really pleasant to walk.
Tiger Prawn Vietnamese Restaurants
Recommended by my friend, quite nice, can try but long queue so must go early.
Day 2 (Wed)
Dian Du De 點都德
Next we went to have our first Dim Sum at Dian Du De.
A very HK style Cha Lo. Taste wise it is cater more to the locals where the skin is thick and filling not as much as ours.
This is the first I'm in China and I'm quite amazed of their technology. Mostly is order and paid via app e.g. WeChat, Alipay, Dian Ping
ONELINK PLAZA Wholesale Market
Nearest MRT:海珠广场 Haizhu Square Metro Station , Exit B2
A lot of wholesale items ranging from painting, furniture to toys but mostly are only keen if is bulk buying. They sell single pcs but not cheap.
Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street上下九步行街 (Liwan)
Station: Take Metro line 6, and get off at Cultural Park Station. Then, walk to north for about 600 meters (660 yd), you will find this pedestrian street.
I quite like this place, can find cheap clothing ranging from $10 onwards but mostly no trying. The things here are also quite unique like we at BKK platinum not so commercialize brands. Only bad thing is raining hard to walk around as no shelter.
Taotao Ju Restaurant (陶陶居)
Saw this highly recommended Cha Lo. Looked posh, pricing reasonable but they very tradition and cannot take pictures :(
Dinner Time - 黄沙水产交易市场
Address .: No.27 Zhulan Road, West Huangsha Dadao (Ave.), Liwan District, Guangzhou (广州市黄沙大道西猪栏路27号)
Nearby Metro Station: Exit D, Huangsha Station, Line 6
Recommended to try. There are many stalls selling seafood on ground level and every stall is link to a restaurant (just above). Once confirmed the seafood they will bring you to the restaurant and cook for you. The seafood is really cheap example the abalone is ard SGD $3 but you also have to pay for a service fee (for cooking) to the restaurant. Rem to bargain when buying the seafood, sometimes they will give free seafood. Only thing is this place not really accessible especially raining, we took DiDi (Cab) and due to its local culture, people smoke in the restaurant.
Day 3 (Thur) - Free & Easy
Day 4 (Fri) - Hm Sweet Hm
Overall Guangzhou not a bad place to go......cheap food but shopping wise I still prefer BKK. In China Google map does not work so alternative to use Amap.
