USA - San Fransico 2012 (Part 4)

Day 8 - San Francisco, California
Temperature: 10 - 20 degree

This is our hotel @ San Frans - Hotel Whitcomb

This hotel is located near Civic Center. The interior of the hotel was very unique, especially the "Mirror Lift" Somehow it does looked a bit like the huanted tower of terror we took in LA Disneyland. I don't really like the location of this hotel though is about 2-3 stop away from Union Sq but as the night get closer you will see a lot of sleepers along the street. I still rememebered on the 1st night we arrived everybody was so exicted to explore the area after dinner however, the group (around 10pp) only walked for about 15mins and decided to return to the hotel as the street was so quiet and the place just looked so rowdy which make the place unsafe.

The Mirror Lift Door

The room was nice with high ceiling just that it was too small.

Guess what is this?

This is the smallest bathroom cum toilet I havnt seen !

Look at the width of the bathroom

Day 9 - Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street and Fisherman's Wharf

Chinatown

Lombard Street - "The crookedest street in the world"

Lombard Street is famous for its tight hairpin turns.

Look at the narrow turns!
Total there are 8 sharp turns on a 40 egree slope.

Golden Gate Bridge - Linking San Frans with Marin Country

 Fisherman's Wharf - PIER 39
This place has quite a number of interesting things. It look similar to the old Fisherman's Wharf, just that is a much bigger scale. Over here you can take a cruise to the famous Alcatraz.

The fresh seafood looks good and we finally decide to give this restaurant a Try!

Clam Chowder is a Must to try @ Fisherman's Wharf. Along the street the restaurant will also offer Clam Chowder Sampling before you decide to the dine in. However, I still find the food is better at  the Old Fisherman's Wharf  =P

Alcatraz - PIER 33
The island served as an incarceration facility (Jail) for war prisoners during the Spanish-American War and there is no evidence of successful escapes as the sea water was so cold and prisoners were purposly ask to take hot showers so they can't endure the cold water if were to escape.

The movie "The Rock" was flimed on this island and now it is a famous tourist attraction. We actually have planned to visit the island but didn't expect it to be so popular that the tickets were fully sold even though we arrived early in the morning. It was a regret for not been able to visit the island since we have come so far.......19 hours of flight. If have the chance to visit San Frans again definitely will set my foot on the island and must purchase the ticket online early.

Finally we have finished touring the Fisherman's Wharf, along the way to take the famous cable car we saw a few interesting shops and things on the street.

And we also found this IN & OUT fastfood

They only sell 1 kind of burger that is Beef and is delicious

Day 10 - Free Day
Today is our free day to explore the city. One of the transportation in San Frans is buses that run on electicity. Directly outside our hotel you can take these buses to Union Sq, just follow the board and pay the fare in cash and the ticket has a vaildity of 4 hours (the pink strike) where you can hop on and off as many times you like. The first day when we arrived we were so "gong gong" that we actually walked all the way to & fro union sq.

Public Toilet

This is the place we have our breakfast every morning, I don't really like it

 Union Square
At Union Sq there is 1 thing you must do......Shopping! Over here there are all kinds of shops from mid range to super high end e.g. Cartier, Tiffany, Prada etc

Another transportation that you might like to try is this cable car ride. It run from high slope all the way down and is manually manned to start off & stop, quite interesting but super long queue. We actually queue for almost 2 hours under the hot sun.

Day 10 & 11 - Back to Singapore with my Souvenir

~Home Sweet Home ~
