Bali May 2010

Bali Trip May 2010

Day1 - Jetstar, Flight 7pm

Exicted and looking forward to this trip as this trip was booked nine months ago....Finally the day has arrived!

As usual when everybody has settled down, crew members started asking if you want any drinks but this time I thought I heard wrongly as they were asking "Mdm, any plain water for you?" Is FREE plain water and what add on to the surprise is FREE muffin TOO!

Finally Jetstar has earn enough profit to provide snack :)

The trip to Bali was 2 hours and 15 mins. With my buddies around, everyone on the plane will hate us as there will not be any peace! This is one of the game we played on plane - Hang man.

Look at the picture, guess a place in Singapore......Answer to be revealed at the bottom of this blog ;P

Casa Padma Suites @ Legian - http://www.casapadmasuites.com/

We have arranged with the hotel driver to pick us up at the airport - Denpasar, a 8 seater MPV only SGD 8 for the transfer ! The duration from airport to our hotel is about half hour drive.

Checked in @ 10 plus, the flight was delayed :(

The exterior of the Hotel was beautiful but when we entered the room it was such a disappointment :(

It was small and the furniture was old. The toilet was so cramp that the bathing area is only around 4 sq ft = 2 big floor tiles. If not we have worked for the whole day, I will not want to step into the toilet especially to bath inside.

Thank god we only stayed 1 night.

Morning View of the Hotel

Advice : Give whatever currency they asked. We thought of paying the Hotel by Visa but was told there will be extra surcharge and they asked if we can pay in USD. If we pay in USD, it will be

US 40 / room (ard SGD 56) but if we were to pay in IDR, guess what............................................ it will be round IDR 640K (SGD 99) ! This is too ridiculous.

Along the street, most of the houses and shops have this "thing" at their frontage. Understand from the people they have 4 big praying events a year (Twice every 6 months) We arrived on Tuesday, their praying day was last Wednesday and the coming will be on Saturday but we will be departing on Friday.

This flower was an offering to the god. The locals will replace it every morning and place it outside their shop / house on the street so have to walk carefully.....make sure don't kick it.

Along the way we saw this interesting sign

Legian Beach

Day 2 - Full Day Tour

We chartered a private driver from bali-day-trip.com for the whole day visiting 6 places and they charged us IDR 500K. We find the price reasonable as we have 4 persons sharing, each pax pay SGD 19 and quite worth it as the driver will pick up us at Legian and end of the tour he will drop us at our Villa at Ubud. This save our transfer fee.

The driver was friendly and speak good English. In fact my friend dropped her wallet in his car at the end of the day, the driver drove all the way back to our Villa from Kuta to Ubud (1 hour drive) to return her wallet!

I highly recommend him to anyone who is going to Bali, Mr Wayan - cdwayansudiana@gmail.com or call 081558640511.

Location 1: Tanah Lot Temple

So funny the fake POLO is just beside the Real

Shops along the way to Tanah Lot Temple

Live Bat outside 1 of the shops. It likes to get close to people when near to it. It will wing towards U.

This is Tanah Lot Temple...only certain month the water will be low tide then people are able to cross to the temple. Is a very nice view.

We are not allow to enter the temple.

Location 2: Taman Ayum Temple

So scarly to climb up & down, the steps are narrow and steep

Overview of the temple

Their performance hall

Location 3: Kintamani - Famous for Volcano View

We have our lunch @ 1 of the restaurant along the street that have such spectacular view.

Though it was a buffet, the food was just so so. Cost IDR 80K/pax

Location 4: Coffee Bean (Intro by the driver)

FREE Coffee sampling :)

Got Bali coffee, ginseng coffee, ginger tea. coco, lemongrass tea but not each person 1 cup.

Location 5: Tirta Empri Temple

The locals believe the water flowing out is holy water. They will pray / make wishes while going through every flowing water.

This is the only temple we are allow to access but........

have to wear this sarong

going......to enter

Miracle pond with bubbles known to be holy water

Location 6: Tegalalang, Rice Terrace

Traditional Japanese having tea

Kalangan Spa - www.kalanganspa.com/

After a long tiring day under the super hot sun now is relax time................MASSAGE!
Wayan recommend us to this spa @ Ubud, Kalangan Spa.
The interior super nice and big, really balinese lor and fully aircon. Most importantly, is cheap!
We did a 1 hr Balinese massage only USD 15 = SGD 25 (include Tax)

They also provide FREE to and fro shuttle service; pick you up from villa and after a good massage they will drop you wherever you wish to go but must be within Ubud :)

This is the room we have our massage

My friend was in this room, even better.......whoooooo

Netafari Exclusive Villas - http://www.nefatari-bali.com/

Finally we check in our villa - Netafari

Their service was v good, the lady showed the way to our villa and showed us the room, the bathroom, the dressing table...in fact anything that is in the room hee. They also provide Free shuttle service (8 seater car) anywhere we want to go, just let them know in advance.

This is my room, I quickly "Chop" it the moment i saw it as the bathroom was v big.

Ohhhh so 梦幻, suddenly feel like a rich person hee

Bathroom...v big hor and v 大自然. At night can also hear cricket sound.....Meow meow sound

Oh i forgot to take the picture of the toilet bowl....I was impressed they actually use TOTO brand and was automatic = can wash ur backside!

This is our private pool, not very big but come with Jaccuzi.

This is where we have our BF, they will deliver to our Villa

The villa cat like to climb on the edge of the wall to enter our villa....esp when you are eating hee

We can order as many as we want and BF last till 1pm....thats not all they also provide tea break which start from 2pm to 7pm is FREE again.

Special pancake with banana and pineapple

This is their special dish porridge with noodle with egg and stredded chicken. Though it sound weird, v v v nice :)

Our main door. Can lock on both side and very tradition is using wooden slot. But 1 thing bad is someone can play plank by locking you from outside.

Pundi Pundi @ Ubud

Dinner time......super hungry man.
This is 1 of the recommended restaurant.....

The food was nice and is cheap....we order 4 drinks, 4 main course and each pax pays ard SGD 15. Good place should come.

Day 3 - Sport Day!

Water Rafting @ Ayung river, 2 hrs - starting point

It was fun and along the river, the scenary was nice but we have to climb ard 300 steps down from the hill and worst is after that have to climb all the way up :(

The instructor was a funny person. Recommended if you dare, actually is not frightening just tiring. It also include buffet lunch. Each pax IDR 275K (ard SGD40). There were 7 rafting companies at Bali.

Tanjung Benoa - This is where you play water sport.

I am flying.......parasailing

Jet Ski - I like, is fun and good you can ski freely on the sea

Snorkling Time

They told us we can shower after the water sports in the end this is our "shower area" OMG
Overall we paid USD 40 / pax for the 3 games; Parasiling (1 round) + Jet Ski (15min) + Snorkling (1hr)

We find the rate is cheaper as compare to Phuket but we find everything was in a rush and the beach was too clutter + the ride there is v far. I still prefer to play at Phuket.

They try to hard sell us to go for diving by saying no training needed, easlier than snorkling and will include Video CD. But we find it sound dangerous leh without basic training.

Cute little Bakery mini bus!

Strong Woman! The local woman like to carry things on their head. Wayan told us they can carry up to 15Kg of rice!

Uluwatu Temple

Temple on the hill...............All the way up

Gotcha! I like this shot taken by me......The "Tam Jia" Monkey.

There are lots of monkey over here.....v smart and tricky

These mischief monkeys don't see them innocent innocent they all got strategy 1 hor. My hubby tried to touch this baby monkey and very fast another monkey snatched this spect from his pocket. In the end 1 of the local managed to get back the spect from the naughty monkey by exchange of food. In the end we paid extra IDR 20K to the guy for helping us. In fact initially we only gave him a small toket as we did have have much $$$ with us, but he was not satisfied so we gave him a bit more.

Wayan have already warned us to keep well of all our things but they are too smart.

Seafood @ Jimbaran Bay

There are lots of restuarants along Jimbaran. We went to the wrong restaurant, the food was not really that nice. According to forum the recommened is Lia Cafe, cheap n good (further down Jimbaran bay).

The prawns were actually very big but what a waste they cooked in this way :(

Last Day @ Bali

Sang Spa - www.sangspa.com/

We are departing tonight, die die must go for 1 more massage.

The massage at Sang Spa was good, their massage skill was different from others and much cheaper. We did a 2 hrs, full body massage +body scrub + flower bath = IDR 150K (ard SGD 25). However compare the ambience and environment, we still prefer the 1st.

Naughty Nur's - Pork Rib

Scarly pig looking @ U while U eat him!

They are famous for their pork rib really nice Must Try

Beach @ Kuta

Summary:
It was very relaxing at Bali, a nice place. There isn't much things to buy over here so I would suggest to invest on Hotel / Villa. Ubud is a nice place to stay as compare to Kuta. Kuta is too busy and villa at Ubud is cheaper :)

The life there is simple and people are friendly. However, I would suggest not to buy anything from people selling outside temple (walking around) as once you buy a whole gang will come and they are very pestering. Once we are in the car waiting for the driver and they just keep appearing at our window hard sell their products.......so scarly.

At Ubud there isnt any public transport even taxi so most of the villa and spa they have this shuttle service.....very shiok like having a private driver and the car is a 8 seater car :)

People planning to go.......Have a Good Stay, Yeh!
